Design your perfect wellness space

The biggest trend of 2025 so far? Wellness. Whether it’s daily meditation or at-home yoga, a feel-good bedtime ritual or everything we need to give ourselves the perfect Winter Arc, a huge majority of our New Year’s resolutions are dedicated to self-care and wellbeing.

One of the things you can do to turn your resolutions into reality: create the perfect space for yourself to Zen out in, in style. Here are some pro tips.

1. Make space for movement

All you need is a space big enough to fit a yoga mat. Whether it’s in your living room, at the foot of your bed or in a corner of your home office, dedicate an area of your home to mellow movement like yoga, mobility exercises, tai chi and meditation with a few decor accessories that make stress melt away. That means calming art, comfortable floor cushions, even a special room spray that helps you transition from go-time to me-time.

2. Create a dedicated reading nook

Comfortable chair? Good lighting? Inspiring art, and maybe a scented candle? You’re ready to make reading a new ritual in your life. Escape the world with a great novel for a half-hour a day, and you’ll find yourself rejuvenated, inspired and centred — and you’ll be able to curb your screentime. Once you’ve created this special mindfulness space for yourself, it’s also the perfect spot to get into journaling or seated meditations.

3. Turn your bathroom into a spa

Get that indulgent feeling you get after a facial by making your own bathroom a self-care sanctuary. Choose a scent that inspires you and fill the air with it thanks to a reed diffuser or a wireless steam diffuser. Decorate the walls with serene imagery. Get into bath salts and long weekend soaks. Before you know it, you’ll have an oasis of comfort and relaxation.

4. Pack your home with greenery

Fill your home with fresh air thanks to house plants, which not only beautify your home, but also help oxygenate your space. Try varieties like snake plants, peace lilies and spider plants, all easy to maintain and air-purifying powerhouses. Plus, you get to shop for cute planters.

5. Master mood lighting

Maximize your access to natural light by installing sheer curtains and choosing light-reflecting surfaces like mirrors, glass side tables and reflective tiles. Then, when it comes to electric lights, choose warm, directed light like table lamps and standing lamps, rather than using your ceiling fixtures. Mood: mellow.
