TREND ANALYSIS

Here are the 2026 design trends you need to know about

With a fresh new year stretching ahead of us, rich with promise, we’re honing into the trends and styles that will be bringing our walls to artful life in 2026. What have we got in store?

January 28th, 2025

1. Atmospheric decor

Our Field-Guide to Cozy

“People are looking for escapism in their decor right now,” says Opposite Wall’s Head of Brand + Design Autumn Wood. From the castlecore influences of our upcoming Fable collection to works that transport you to an enchanted forest, an après-ski club, a fantastical garden or a vintage rec room, 2026 is all about creating experiences with your decor rather than creating looks.

2. Nostalgic motifs

From textures that harken back to midcentury printing techniques to imagery rich with retro sports vibes (think letterman jackets and graphic patches), we’re looking back to look forward this year. Stay tuned for our exciting Varsity Club collection, you’re going to love it.

3. Elemental thinking

“People are looking for the weight of history — they’re hungry for the familiar, for the established,” says Autumn. That’s why we’re dedicating one of our 2026 collections to a return to forms, lines and graphic statements that strip art back to its basics. Stay tuned!

4. Colour, colour everywhere

“Jewel tones are going to be huge this year,” says Autumn, and we’re so down with that. Let’s make bold colour choices and enjoy colour bathing, colour blocking — all things colour. Coming soon chez nous: new colourful picture mats, tonally matched to our coloured frames.

5. Celebrating maximalism

2026 doesn’t want to be calm, cool and collected. This is the year of big statements, vivid patterns, atmospheric wallpapers, vibrant florals, rich hues,  joyful excess and massive gallery walls. 2026 is where it’s at!
