Creative Art Director

Opposite Wall is a Montreal-based company that offers a broad assortment of trendy posters and frames, with a focus on minimalist, on-trend designs. We are growing rapidly with our online multichannel direct to consumer business model. Our office is located in Montreal’s Mile Ex district.

The Creative Director is going on maternity leave at the beginning of 2021, therefore we are now looking for a 1 year replacement. The Creative Art Director will lead the Design and Product department and report to the President of the company.


  • Ensure we maintain visual consistency of our brand across all communications and creative projects
  • Must be able to direct and motivate their team members
  • Need to be able to articulate their vision and oversee execution
  • Communicate and collaborate with management and the marketing team to provide creative solutions to challenges that meet the company's communication strategy and business objectives
  • Find new artists to collaborate with
  • Negotiate contracts for artists and subcontractors
  • Participate in creative and financial meetings
  • Research industry trends and competitors
  • Create brief for our different artists and employees
  • Plan monthly collection drops for 2021/2022
  • Manage the budget for the department
  • Create mockups and scenarios of the products in Photoshop
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of print production processes, ensure production guidelines are respected and be able to prepare print-ready files, as well as take responsibility for them
  • Always improve the visual appearance of our website
  • Improve and search for new ideas for our packaging while respecting our ecological values
  • All other related tasks


  • Are bilingual (English and French)
  • Have three (3) years or more experience in an agency or similar environment
  • Have an interest in all the new trends within different design industries
  • Have a good sense of detail and are self-assured in your work
  • Are overflowing with creativity
  • Are able to make quick decisions
  • Have a proactive and open-minded personality
  • Must be able to handle feedback well
  • Can show you have a good knowledge of Adobe CC Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator

  • Have experience in the field of interior design
  • Have experience in UX Design (preferably e-commerce and Shopify platform)
  • Enjoy making illustrations
  • Enjoy photography
  • Have a basic understanding of motion design
